Tab Tidy (AI) — Privacy Policy
Effective date: 2025-10-09
Tab Tidy (AI) helps you organize open tabs into Chrome tab groups. We care about privacy and keep data usage minimal.
Summary
- We do not sell, rent, or trade your data.
- We do not collect personal information.
- Settings are stored locally in your browser.
- AI mode is optional. When enabled, we send only a tab's title and URL to the Hugging Face Inference API to get a category label used for grouping.
Data We Process
- Tab metadata (title and URL): processed locally to group tabs. When AI mode is enabled, the title/URL string is sent to the Hugging Face Inference API for classification. We do not send page content/body, cookies, or identifiers.
- Local settings: provider/model choice, custom labels/keywords, feature toggles, and (optionally) an API key. These are stored using Chrome
storage and are not transmitted to our servers.
What We Do Not Do
- No analytics or advertising trackers.
- No collection of personally identifiable information.
- No reading or modifying page content.
- No remote code execution; all executable code ships with the extension.
Service Providers
Hugging Face Inference API (when AI mode is enabled) receives the tab title/URL to return a category label. Their use is limited to providing this feature.
Your Choices
- Use Domain mode to group tabs without any network request.
- Turn AI mode on/off anytime in Options.
- You may remove data by uninstalling the extension; local settings will be deleted by Chrome.
Security
We follow Chrome extension best practices and the MV3 Content Security Policy. If you set a passphrase, your API key is encrypted at rest in local storage.
Changes
We may update this policy as we add features. We'll bump the extension version and update the effective date here.
